Autumn Paintings

Clayton's Store no longer exists as Clayton's, but I remember. when it was in full operation. It had a wonderful butcher shop and a great selection of heavy wool mitts. hats and boots. Today it is an Interior decorating store called "Clark"s on Main.", open seasonally. There is no access to the lakeside of the building, but I often find those out-of-the-way places the most interesting to paint. The mood of something abandoned or neglected is a painter's paradise. I was also drawn to the simplicity of the composition of the scene. All of the paintings come with a solid maple floater frame, custom-made in Dorset.

The Dorset Lookout Tower is one of the 3 iconic spots to visit in Dorset. It was used to watch for forest fires, but now it is only for tourists to climb to view beautiful Trading Bay and the village of Dorset from above. This painting is framed in a clear maple floater frame.

The rolling hills and forests of rural Ontario in the north of Ontario are beautiful, especially in the fall. This day, two artist friends accompanied me for a drive into the countryside. We packed a pick nick lunch and drove through small towns, past hippie farms and down gravel roads. This painting is what came out of the day. This painting is framed in a clear maple floater frame.
